Bata Group Joins the Leather Working Group

At Bata, we are dedicated to establishing a responsible leather supply chain, underscoring our commitment to sustainability, conscientiousness, and responsibility.  

Did you know that Bata Group is a member of Leather Working Group (LWG)? For those unfamiliar with the Leather Working Group, the global multistakeholder is a member-led non-profit organization that is dedicated to driving excellence in the leather industry, minimizing the environmental impact of leather production, and challenging industry perceptions, through a suite of tools and ESG certification. 

By joining forces with LWG, we gain the tools to adopt cleaner solutions, reduce chemicals, optimize energy usage, and mitigate water pollution. This collaboration empowers us to actively monitor and enhance our environmental footprint, recognizing the significant contributions of the fashion industry and its supply chains to soil degradation, ecosystem conversion, and biodiversity loss, particularly through materials like leather sourced from agriculture.  While regenerative agricultural practices offer a solution, our focus remains on immediate actions to mitigate environmental impacts within our supply chain. 

This membership underscores our ongoing commitment to transparency, accountability, and continuous improvement in our sourcing practices.  

Together, we will continue to innovate, collaborate, and pave the way towards a brighter and more sustainable future for Bata Group.
