We have always aspired to create better lives for our employees and customers, and through that, to have a positive and on-going impact on communities and wider society. We call this the Bata Life effect. It is part of Bata’s long-term thinking, which is the foundation of our success.

Responsible operations

Bata’s heritage lies in our global manufacturing. We continue to manufacture shoes in our own production facilities in 24 factories in 18 countries. Certain processes, such as stitching uppers, are outsourced to closely linked local businesses, known as Associate Business Units (ABUs). We also work with suppliers in Europe and Asia who manufacture shoes and accessory products on our behalf.

Thriving communities

The United Nations 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) seek to realise the human rights of all, achieve gender equality and promote the empowerment of all women and girls. The SDGs are an integral and indivisible part of the way we do business and form a fundamental part of our business model. The Bata Children’s Program (BCP) is our largest and most significant community activity, focusing on giving disadvantaged children a brighter future, in partnership with local people and institutions.
